Rumour: "Wonder Woman" To Be Set In 1920's

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the Wonder Woman movie will be set in the 1920s as opposed to in the modern day, as most had assumed.

According to the report, the first have the film we take place on war torn Paradise Island. Eventually, a man will show up, throwing the status quo off balance with his plea for aid from the Amazons. Wonder Woman leaves the Paradise Island with the man – who is not necessarily Steve Trevor – and then, SURPRISE! It’s the 1920s. Wonder Woman then goes on to explore a world that has only just granted women suffrage, from the perspective of someone who just left an all-female society.

According to the report, the plan is to follow the first Wonder Woman up with a sequel set during World War II, and then turn the whole thing into a trilogy with a third film set during the modern day/Justice League era.

To hear Warner Bros. going the period piece route with Wonder Woman is a little surprising, considering that was the direction of Joss Whedon’s 2005 Wonder Wo…

"Never Say Never" To Superhero Movies Says Christopher Nolan

Whether you happen to like his movies or not, there's no denying that Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy paved the way for comic book based films to be taken that bit more seriously. Not that he was the first to take the realistic "dark and gritty" approach that so many fans are actually a bit tired of now, but the phenomenal critical and commercial success of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight (in particular) and The Dark Knight Rises really put the comic book/superhero genre on the map in a way it had never been before. Since he wrapped the last film in the trilogy, Nolan served as executive producer on Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel, but don't expect him to play any role in WB/DC's film slate moving forward..or indeed any other superhero-type movie. "I think I had a great experience with the superhero genre and got to explore a lot of things," Nolan tells Time Out. "But it was a good decade of my life and I find it hard to imagine returning to …

Scarlet Witch Will Cause Havoc For The Avengers

In an interview with, The Avengers’ Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, hints that the new additions to the team in Avengers: Age of Ultron may be bad influences.
Ruffalo specifically names the Scarlet Witch as being able to bring out their dark sides.

"I love the new kids on the block. I love Wanda. She’s able to bring out the worst in us,” Ruffalo says.

This little statement make you wonder if the Scarlet Witch might be responsible for the Hulk’s throw down with Iron Man that we saw some of in the first trailer.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1.

New Characters Will Be In "Supergirl"

A  number of Superman's supporting cast members who haven't yet made it to the big screen in Man of Steel or Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will apparently be headed to TV with Supergirl, TVLine reports.

The series, executive produced by Arrow and The Flash's Greg Berlanti, is casting a number of new roles including Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant...and Hank Henshaw, the man who would be the Cyborg Superman (before Flashpoint, anyway).

Here's how TVLine breaks down the casting...some of which sounds quite a bit like the New 52 iterations of the characters and some, not so much:

CAT GRANT | The project is eyeing females in their 40s, open ethnicity, to play the founder of CatCo, a media conglomerate that Cat built from the ground up. Kara (Supergirl’s mild-mannered alter ego) will work as a personal assistant to Cat, who is described as “J.Lo by way of Anna Wintour.”

JAMES OLSEN | In his late 20s/early 30s, open ethnicity, James is a smart, worldly and (duh) attractive phot…

Mark Ruffalo Talks AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; Teases 'Hulkbuster', 'Vision' And More

Talking to Collider on the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this year, Mark Ruffalo had plenty to say about what we should expect from the highly anticipated 2015 sequel. Apart from a very brief scene in Iron Man 3, we've seen and heard nothing of Bruce Banner since the events of the first movie, so how is he now dealing with being the Hulk? "Banner and Hulk have kind of come to a detente [laughs]. We left this last one with this idea that I’m always angry and therefore I have some control over it, but like anger, when you think you have control over it, you absolutely don’t. So there’s still a wrangling going on and there’s a confrontation brewing between the Hulk consciousness and the Banner consciousness that I think we’re starting to head into right now." It sounds like he'll still be struggling to keep the Green Goliath under control then despite the fact he appeared to have mastered him during the battle with the Chitauri in The Avengers!
Talk then turne…

Zack Snyder Talks Filming BATMAN V SUPERMAN In Detroit And More!

After months of principal photography in Detroit, Michigan, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is "getting ready to wrap it up and take off" as Zack Snyder has informed CBS Detroit this morning. The director called into the local radio station, which he once used to defend the Aquaman character, now just to thank the city for accommodating the production. "I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for being strong supporters of the movie and coming down and saying hey, and just, I’ve had a great time in Michigan, I just wanted to say thanks to you guys and just to Detroit itself," Snyder said. "I know this is the venue for talking to all of Detroit." When asked where filming is headed next, Zack Snyder confirmed that "We head to Chicago after this, then a couple more locations, but we're getting close [to wrapping completely]." However, given he is all set to return to the director's chair for two Justice League movies, Zack was then aske…

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" To Have A Chilling End According to RDJ

In a new interview with Collider, Avengers: Age of Ultron star Robert Downey, Jr. explained that he's "a very tolerant consumer" of big, splashy action movies in spite of how flooded the market is becoming with superhero films.

With all the sequels, prequels, spinoffs and competition Marvel is facing, he said, the films themselves still have the ability to be affecting -- so much so that he got chills reading the Age of Ultron script:
I love these kinds of movies. So I feel like I’m just a very tolerant kind of consumer with these things, but I also feel like the half-life of – if you noticed just how flooded the market is becoming and likely to become potentially even more so – I think that there has to be a bit of a transcendence of formula. And so without giving too much away I think, and why I generally just kind of like stamped it when the first draft came in, is because I thought, “Oh wow, it didn’t fall into that trap.” And I read the last page and I got chills f…

Avengers Line-up To Be Altered By The End Of "Avengers: Age of Ultron"

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has confirmed that the Avengers roster will be changed by the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. The confirmation came in a statement where Feige was equating the Avengers films to Marvel crossover event comics. “The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins,” says Feige. “It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film.” This lines up with rumors that have suggested a new team of Avengers will be revealed in the film’s post-credits scene, possibly a splinter team aligned with Captain America ahead of the upcoming Civil War. Of course, the addition of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witc…

Phil Lord And Chris Miller To Pen "Lego 2" Script

While Phil Lord and Chris Miller directed The LEGO Movie to great success, both critically and financially, it had been thought that the duo would take something of a back seat on the forthcoming sequel, restricting their involvement to production duties. However, according to Deadline, the pair will be more heavily involved than first anticipated, having signed an agreement to pen the script for The LEGO Movie 2. That said, they will still be passing on the directorial reins, although with co-helmer Chris McKay now confirmed for the LEGO Batman spin-off, it remains to be seen whether he will still be directing The LEGO Movie 2 as had first been planned. Whoever does end up filling the director’s chair will have plenty to live up to, with the first film having brought in a whopping $470 million worldwide, as well as scoring a raft of positive reviews. The LEGO Movie 2 is expected to open in the UK at some point in 2018. An official release date has yet to be confirmed.

Marvel has long wanted to launch a film franchise around the character and eventually integrate him in one of its “Avengers” sequels. Still Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has long wanted the Doctor Strange character to star in his own solo film as a way to make a movie about magic the way “Guardians of the Galaxy” pushes it into t…

'The Crow' Remake Aiming for Spring 2015 Production Start

Producer Ed Pressman (Wall Street, American Psycho) has revealed that The Crow remake’s long and bumpy road could finally be reaching an end, with production targeted to start next year.

Pressman, who was in Abu Dhabi to attend the International Showbiz Expo and also to collect a lifetime achievement award from the festival, described The Crow as “the anti-Spider-Man.”

“It still has a big fan base even though it was so long ago,” he said. “But the generation today doesn't even know The Crow.”

A string of actors have been linked to play the iconic role made famous by the late Brandon Lee — who died in the making of the first film — with Dracula Untold’s Lee Evans the current favorite. Evans added further fuel to the fire earlier this year when he spo…

Geoff Johns Discusses DC TV and Movie!

In a new interview with Buzzfeed, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns explained a little more about DC's approach to making TV and movies. It's a multiverse, he explained, not unlike what DC has in the comics. And that doesn't mean that there won't eventually be a scenario where a TV show and a movie will cross over -- just that they haven't found reason to do it yet. And, yes, they thought long and hard about it."We look at it as the multiverse," Johns said. "We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. I like [Marvel’s Agents of] S.H.I.E.L.D. a lot. I love what Marvel does. I’m a huge fan. It’s just a different approach."He added, "There’s been discussions …

James Spader Talks Being Ultron!

James Spader talks about how psychotic Ultron will be in an interview with Total Film."There's a humorous aspect to him, which is something that drew me in from the very first conversation I had with Joss [Whedon],"Spader revealed. "In many ways he's a child, this character, because he's a brand new being who's just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he's a very powerful, smart child." The cybernetic baddie enjoys the sound of "everyone screaming for mercy," but Spader is quick to deny too many similarities with his Golden Globe-nominated role as criminal-turned-FBI profiler Raymond "Red" Reddington on the hit show "The Blacklist.""Ultron takes abrupt turns in scenes," Spader explained. "Red isn't pyschopathic but Ultron is. Yes, he is psychopathic. He's really batsh*t crazy!"When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant pe…

Well, there was a meeting."Sorkin, known for his fast-paced dialogue in films like The Social Network and The American President, was candid about the verbal gymnastics Bale will have to perform in the biopic, as opposed to the actual gymnastics he displayed as Batman in "The Dark Knight" trilogy."He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined," Sorkin said. "There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."Bale was initially courted for the part back when David Fincher was attached to helm, and …
