"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" Is To Have The Most VFX Shots In A Marvel Studios Movie

Avengers: Age of Ultron" could be Marvel Studios' most ambitious flick so far. The studio's executive vice president Victoria Alonso said audience should expect a lot more visual effects by a huge margin in this movie than in other Marvel films.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" held the previous record of having 2,750 visual effects shot. But "Age of Ultron" passed it easily with 3,000 VFX shots, which is the most for any Marvel films ever. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" held the third place with 2,500 VFX shots.

Discussing the film at Visual Effects Society Production Summit on Saturday, October 18, Alonso said the studio had to work with seven to twelve VFX vendors in five to seven different countries in order to get the movie done. But working with multiple countries works in the studio's favor because they "sometimes have ideas that we don't have. That's what we gain by being global."

In "Avengers: Age of Ultron", the superheroes are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers Age of Ultron is scheduled to be released theatrically on May 1, 2015.
