Directors And Titles Revealed For First Three Episode Of Marvel And Netflix's DAREDEVIL

Thanks to the BBFC (via @antovolk), we now know the titles, directors, and running times for the first three episodes of Daredevil, the upcoming 13-part series from Marvel and Netflix. "Into The Ring" must be a reference to Matt Murdock's father, but any thoughts on "Cut Man" and "Rabbit In A Snow Storm". As for the directors, Phil Abraham is best known for his work on Mad Men and The Sopranos, while Adam Kane's credits include 24: Live Another Day and Hannibal.

  • Episode One, “Into the Ring” (I haven’t read the comics, so you’ll have to use your own divinations about what these titles might portend) will be directed by Phil Abraham. (Runtime: 52:47) Abraham has directed 14 episodes of Mad Men, as well as Masters of Sex, Orange is the New Black, Ray Donovan, and many, many more.
  • Episode Two, “Cut Man” will also be directed by Phil Abraham. (Runtime: 52:28)
  • Episode Three, “Rabbit In A Snow Storm” will be directed by Adam Kane. (Runtime: 51:51) In addition to many other directing stints, Kane has helmed episodes of Hannibal and Pushing Daisies. Anyone Bryan Fuller approves of certainly gets my approval as well.

What these directors may suggest is that Daredevil is going to have a specific style and, perhaps, some really gorgeous cinematography. Netflix has always approached its original series with unique stylistic sensibility, so here’s hoping Daredevil gets the same treatment. (Or at the very least, there’s going to be a lot of blood and violence apparently).

Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, with Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ayelet Zurer, Bob Gunton, Toby Leonard Moore, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

Here’s the official synopsis for the series:
“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.

Daredevil will premiere all 13 of its first season episodes on Netflix, starting April 10th.
