Suicide Squad's Runtime Revealed(?); Time To Reminisce About The Previews

With the hotly anticipated summer film just around the corner, some like me have been wondering how long it will be. Will it be a two and half hour epic or a more modest ninety plus minute small scale story? Well Collider are reporting that they have the info on how long it'll be. They are saying that Suicide Squad will have a runtime of 130 minutes with credits included. Recently Ayer tweeted that the film is indeed done and waiting to be released in August, so it wouldn't surprise me that the running time would be sourced out to the likes of Collider.

For me it is a perfect time-slot for Skwad as its nature being an ensemble film with a more linear story, I assume, makes sense that it'll be just little over two hours. Unlike other films like Batman v Superman which had many moving parts, Suicide Squad appears to be more focused and more condensed.

To mark this information let's cast our minds make to the previews/trailers that have been released thus far. Beginning with the one that some would say is the best, the Comic-Con First Look. This one while being a headache initially for WB, as it was leaked unfortunately, was the one to spark the fuse for the hype surrounding the film. From the tone of the preview to the crown jewel of it, the introduction to Jared Leto's Joker, it became a good omen for WB that there's a thirst to see this film. Enjoy its glory here:

Months after the First Look was released DC Films partnering with The CW had a special for the upcoming DC Films' Universe. This special brought with it a second preview for Suicide Squad this time however being a lot more energetic than its predecessor. With Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody it offered not only a second look to the film but also more of a feel for the film, that being an adrenaline fueled thriller with some levity in large part thanks to Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang. Cast your minds to it by watching it here:

Finally, for now, we have the Blitz trailer which was a part of MTV's Movie Awards of this year. It like its previous trailer had an energetic song to it, The Sweets' Ballroom Blitz. The preview itself while still not giving too much away gave fans more reasons to go see, most notably is Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn.

With all of this I find myself coming to a conclusion that this going to be special for DC Films/WB. It will be something different to the platter of comic-book inspired films. For that I can't wait to sit down in my local cinema and watch it.

From director David Ayer (“Fury,” “End of Watch”) comes “Suicide Squad,” starring Oscar nominee Will Smith (“Ali,” “The Pursuit of Happyness”), Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Focus”), Joel Kinnaman (Netflix’s “House of Cards”) and Oscar nominee Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”).

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity.  U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do.  However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, an Atlas Entertainment production, a film by David Ayer, “Suicide Squad.” The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. The film opens worldwide in 3D, and in 2D, and in select IMAX 3D theaters beginning August 5, 2016.
