Before It Airs Again:'The Flash' And Its Flashpoint

Before it returns to our screens today I wanted to give a brief summation of what we have gotten for The Flash's TV return. The third season premiere is called "Flashpoint" an homage to the classic storyline of the same name, which showed how dire the consequences are of saving Nora Allen, The Flash's mother, on that damning night of her murder. You can see stills from the episode down below and some more information we have gotten too!

Trailers and scenes from the episode:

Keiynan Lonsdale's Kid Flash first look:

Andrew Kreisberg and Todd Helbing had an interview with FlashTV News in which he talked about the effects Flashpoint will have in the series, how some of the characters have been changed, and lastly some of the new speedsters we are going to get.

Flashpoint effects:
Everything is different. Barry grew up with Joe and Iris, and now in Flashpoint he grows up with his parents, so he doesn’t have that same relationship with Joe or with Iris. He had a schoolboy crush on Iris growing up, and then some time had passed, and so he has to approach her from a different angle. He can’t just be “Hey, Iris. I’m Barry Allen! You know, we used to… oh, right, we didn’t live together because that never happened.” So just their relationship is a completely different experience for him, and it’s a challenge now because he still sees Iris, she’s still beautiful, he still has a crush on her… it’s “how do I now approach this girl who I know all of these things about, but I can’t say anything?”

Character differences:
What we did with Earth-2 was [that] every character was a little different. There was a distinction without a difference. Iris was a cop, which she had ambitions [for] on Earth-1, but Joe put the kibosh on that. With Joe, he was a lounge singer…. In Flashpoint, we’re trying to keep that alive, where there are just slight differences. Cisco may be a billionaire, but deep down he still has the heart of gold that the Cisco that we know and love.

Speedsters:
Awesome. I would say, especially when we have another speedster, we always want to do something different, and we certainly do that with Savitar. There’s a psychological game that’s going to be going on between he and Barry, which is a little bit different; and much like his name means “God of Speed,” he is kind of this cult-y figure.

[Savitar] will not be in the black suit. [The evil looking dude in the footage] is The Rival. The Rival is going to be in the first episode.

And so concludes this "Before It Airs Again" for The Flash, I'll end with the premiere's synopsis which gives us more details, albeit vague ones, about the show's return. I'll do something like this for other shows that are returning like Arrow, Legends and Supergirl.

WHAT WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU’VE EVER WANTED?  — Barry (Grant Gustin) is living his dream life – his parents are alive, he’s asked Iris West (Candice Patton) on a date and he can finally be a normal guy as Central City has another speedster, Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), running around saving the city. When Barry starts forgetting parts of his old life, the Reverse Flash (guest star Matt Letscher) taunts his nemesis and tells him that there will be serious repercussions for Barry and the ones he loves if he continues to live in this alternate universe. In addition to losing his memories, his powers will also start to fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide if he wants to continue to live in this world as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash. Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Brooke Roberts (FL301). Original airdate 10/4/2016.
