James Gunn Talks Original Trailer For 'Guardians'; Sequel's Trailer Coming Soon

James Gunn has one more trailer to deal currently, with the recent release of a trailer for The Belko Experiment, which is written by Gunn, the director-writer set his eyes on a trailer for his upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Confirming to Heat Vision that a trailer is on the way for Marvel fans, Gunn commented on the differences between Vol. 2 and Belko at a launch party of the Belko trailer.

"Guardians is the harder one. With Belko, the premise is what people have to buy into," Gunn said. "With Guardians, people really go through every single little shot and try to figure out what the movie's about. And there's a lot of mysteries in Guardians 2."

Gunn further went on to talk about what he and the Marvel marketing crew talked about this Tuesday.

"We were talking about how much to give away — and we're not going to give away very much," said Gunn.

It appears that very trailer for Vol. 2 will be released in the next twenty four hours as it has been now confirmed via Trailer-Track to air during the ACC Championship on ABC which begins at 20:00 EST / 01:00 GMT.

Making a trailer for the likes of Belko is more flexible than say Guardians with Belko marketing teams can get away with putting a lot in whereas for Guardians it is challenging as fans can examine it frame-by-frame and know the film's inner workings.

"You can show all sorts of stuff happening and it doesn't really give away who lives, who dies, what the outcome is, what the mystery is," Gunn talking about the Belko trailer. "With Guardians, it's such an emotional and physical journey, going to all these different places. It's like, 'God, do I really want to show this planet we go to in the middle of the movie? … Those are always hard choices to make."

On the topic of trailers, many would recall the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy being so true the vibe of the film. Having Blue Swede's 'Hooked on a Feeling' in the background while in the foreground showcasing the beginnings of the Guardians themselves. But had things went the other way around, we might never seen such a trailer.

"That trailer tested not very well. We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was — that tested a little better," said Gunn.

Thankfully we got to see what we got back in 2014, as the marketing team for the Marvel film decided it was a better reflection of the film itself.

"And at the end of the day, the [marketing] guys were like, 'This is what the movie is. We are selling what the movie is. Not something else,' " says Gunn. "You've got to sell the movie for what it is, and that's what they did. They really bought my trust with that on the first movie."

The Belko Experiment will be released March 17, 2017.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.
