Jeremy Irons Talks Alfred Pennyworth In 'Justice League'

We will see Alfred Pennyworth again in next year's Justice League and will be played again by the stellar actor of Jeremy Irons. Irons first appearance in the DC Extended Universe was in Batman v Superman, providing a wit that a Briton can only supply and also a guiding hand for Master Bruce Wayne. As said before we will see him again next year although this time dealing with more than just Wayne, but don't expect a full change in Alfred.

“No, Alfred is a stickler for staying the same,” Irons told ComingSoon. “He tries to modulate everybody else. In a very gentle, English way he tries to deal with these people who can do all these extraordinary things in a very calm way, a very grounded way. He does not modulate at all. He sometimes lets Bruce Wayne out a bit on the lead, but he’s still attached.”

I loved Alfred in Batman v Superman and him being in Justice League is an added bonus, but with these comments I am thrilled he is in the film. Seeing his reaction to beings that have supernatural capabilities he is alien to will provide an avenue for some audience members I believe and will add some heart to the film, most of which will come from the likes of Barry Allen and Victor Stone.

Irons will also continue his role of Alfred in Ben Afflecks' The Batman after his foray helping out the League.

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.

Justice League hits theatres November 17, 2017.
