EW Releases First Look At 'Marvel's The Defenders'

Entertainment Weekly have released a cover for a new edition of their magazine, that gives us our first look at Marvel's The Defenders.

In tandem with the release of this cover, EW have written up an article, that gives us some details about the upcoming Netflix series.

The publication was present during the filming of the first scene all of the Defenders meet up, those being Charlie Cox as Matt Murdoch aka Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist.

The scenes is described by the following:
Each Defender has arrived separately at the offices of Midland Circle, and none of them expected to cross paths. But before they can properly meet and greet, the four have wound up trapped in the middle of a corridor and must brawl their way past a group of enemies, a hallmark of pretty much every Netflix/Marvel shows.

“Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explained showrunner Marco Ramirez, who produced Daredevil‘s first season before co-showrunning the second. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?'”

The series began as an idea back in 2013, when Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, wanted to make a series that revolved around a team, but wouldn't have the bells and whistles the Avengers have. “The Defenders didn’t have a ‘D’ on their belt buckles and a Defenders Tower,” said Loeb. “We agreed from the very beginning that these folks could at the very end go, ‘I never want to see your face again.'”
