The film was initially planned for an October 5, 2018 release but has now taken a December 21, 2018 date. James Wan is all set to direct the film along with Jason Momoa to star as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.

Other cast members include Amber Heard as Mera - Arthur's confidant who can hold her own when needed, Patrick Wilson as Orm - Curry's half-brother, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko - Atlantean scientist who is an ally of Arthur's, Yahiya Abdul Manteen II as Black Manta, rounding out the cast is Temeura Morrison as Thomas Curry with Nicole Kidman as Atlanna both parents of Arthur Curry.

Wan along with Will Beal and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns wrote the script for the film, which is set to begin production in May.

The studio also announced a few more dates, Horse Soldiers to release Jan. 19, 2018 and Bastards - an Owen Wilson and Ed Helms comedy - originally a Jan. 27 opening, will now come out Dec. 22, 2017.
