Henry Cavill Signs On To Join 'Mission: Impossible 6' Via Instagram

The Briton is teaming up with Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible 6.

McQuarrie - who is returning to write and direct the film having done so already with Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation - made the announcement via his Instagram account in a less than usual manner. Captioning a picture of himself with, "Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure." To which the Man of Steel star through a small conversation replied, "Oh ok.....I'm in!"

According to Variety's sources Cavill is set to play some kind of right hand man to Cruise's unit, which is expected to be comprised of the returning stars from previous films - like Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner, although it is has not been made clear in what capacity they will return in.

The sixth instalment of the Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions franchise will be produced by Cruise and David Ellison. It is expected to begin production in April.

For Cavill this marks his second foray into the cinematic world of espionage having already starred in the Guy Ritchie-directed The Man from UNCLE. The actor is currently working on the psychological thriller Nomis in Winnipeg, Canada and will be seen in Zack Snyder's Justice League as Superman.
