Paramount Pictures Taps Travis Knight To Direct 'Bumblebee' Spinoff

Paramount Pictures is expanding the Transformers franchise with a Bumblebee spinoff film.

The studio has tapped Travis Knight, who recently directed the Oscar nominated stop-motion animation Kubo And The Two Strings, to helm the spinoff. This would be his first live-action directing job.

The Bumblebee spinoff is being written by Christina Hodson. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are producing with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis.

Transformers: The Last Knight will open in theaters on June 23, 2017 with a Bumblebee  spin-off to come out June 8, 2018 and a sixth instalment of the franchise to be released June 28, 2019.
