'Captain Marvel' Finds Its Director(s) In Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck

Marvel Studios' first female-led superhero film has finally found its directors.

The comic-book film studio has tapped Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, from Mississippi Grind fame, to helm the Captain Marvel project.

Ever since they cast Oscar winning actress Brie Larson to play the titular role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, the studio has taken its time to source out its talent to direct the film. Several female directors were courted in this time.

Kevin Feige - Head of Marvel Studios- and Co. were actively searching the right talent for the job, with having the script be in the best shape as a high priority before signing on the helmers.

The two, Boden and Fleck, had numerous meetings with Feige and Co., impressing all and became the people to direct Marvel's first female-led superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Having a background in television and film was the added extra that made them the right people for the job in the studio's mind.

Screenwriters, Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, are penning the script, which will tell the story of Carol Danvers, an Air Force One pilot, who gets imbued with alien powers granting her a superhero status. Her power set includes flight, super-strength, and energy projection.

Production is set to begin winter 2018.

Feige is producing the film, which is slated for a March 8, 2019 date.
