Josh Brolin To Play Cable For 'Deadpool 2' And More

The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit is reporting that the seasoned actor is joining the Merc with the Mouth.

Twentieth Century Fox have been on a mission to cast the role of Cable. The studio was having Michael Shannon, who has experience in comic-book films having played Zod in Man of Steel, and Stranger Things alum David Harbour on their shortlist of actors.

But Josh Brolin has come out on top to be play the time-travelling mutant-cyborg for the studio's upcoming Deadpool 2. Word is that he has signed on for a four-picture deal.

Cable, for those who don't know, was created by Rob Liefeld - who co-created Deadpool - and Louise Simonson. The Marvel Comics character is the son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey's clone Madelyne Pryor from the future. He is a telepathic, telekinetic, technopathic cyborg who is not to be rivalled with.

Deadpool 2 will have David Leitch at the helm from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Warnick with Ryan Reynolds reprising his Merc with the Mouth role as well as producing. Zazie Beetz has also been added to the cast to play Domino. Production, which will take place in Vancouver, is set to begin in June.

For Brolin, this will be another big comic-book role to play, as he will be seen as the all-powerful Thanos in Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War come 2018. Note that these roles our for two completely separate cinematic universe so don't expect any weird crossover to happen.
