Jude Law To Play A Young Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore In 'Fantastic Beasts' Sequel

Finally after months of teasing, Warner Bros. have announced exactly who is playing the younger version of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore in the upcoming Fantastic Beast sequel. The announcement which came from Toby Emmerich, President and Chief Content Officer, Warner Bros. Pictures, confirms that Jude Law will play the young Albus Dumbledore.

Emmerich stated, “As fans ourselves, we are thrilled to have Jude Law joining the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ cast, playing a character so universally adored. Jude has been a member of the Warner Bros. family for years and we’re excited to embark on this new adventure with him.”

Director David Yates added, “Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I have long admired, and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.”

Law, playing this version of Dumbledore, will be seen as the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts. He will be facing off against Gellert Grindelwald, who is in essence Dumbledore's version of Voldemort.

The sequel of Fantastic Beasts, will see Yates return as director, with J.K. Rowling coming back to write the script. The film will also reunite producers David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram. Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen are serving as executive producers.

Principal photography is expected begin this summer, the full cast has not been confirmed although do expect that Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, and many more from the original film to make an appearance. A November 16, 2018 release date is in the books.
