'Han Solo' Anthology Film Loses Directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller

There has been a disturbance in the Force, have you felt it?

The upcoming Star Wars Anthology film that will revolve around the iconic character of Han Solo has lost its directors. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have left the film, citing creative differences as the main reason for the exit.

In a statement released this week Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said, “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon."

The directors themselves added: “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."

It has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that due to Lord and Miller's more comedic and improvisational style the studio weren't to keen on making a film adhere to that and wanted a more serious and by the book, the book being Lawrence and Jon Kasdan's script, film.

A few directors have also been reported to be in the running to take up the helm, those directors being Ron Howard, Joe Johnston, and possibly Lawrence Kasdan himself, as he knows what needs to be done for the film.

The replacement director, will take the next several weeks to assess the work already done and readjust it to fit the studio's vision.

What's next for Lord and Miller? There are rumours of them going to DC Films/Warner Bros. to direct The Flash - which will see Ezra Miller's Barry Allen have his first solo film adventure.
