Robin Wright's General Antiope To Appear In 'Justice League'

Spoiler warning for Wonder Woman:

In the Patty Jenkins-directed Wonder Woman film we are introduced to the idyllic island of Themyscira, and its Amazonian inhabitants most notably Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope. Each are intrinsically linked to the main character of Princess Diana aka Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, the former being her mother and the latter being her aunt.

We get to see the relationships these characters have in the film, but more focused on Diana and Hippolyta's bond as a daughter-mother connection. When asked about whether we will see more of that relationship from LA Times, Gal Gadot - who plays Wonder Woman - said: "Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there's a lot more to explore."

Hippolyta herself, Connie Nielsen, who was already confirmed for Justice League, added: "And [Robin Wright, who plays Antiope and I] got to do more in "Justice League" as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can't say much, but ..."

Wright continued: "And more of the story, you get some of the history."

If you have seen the film, Wonder Woman, you will know that Antiope becomes a casualty in the beach battle, so her appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League leads many, myself included, that it will take place in the past more so than in the 1918 set Wonder Woman.

Pure speculation at this point, but in the first Justice League trailer, we may have been given our look at Antiope in a quick glimpse of the prehistoric battle that ensued on Earth - that had Ancient Man, Atlanteans, and Amazonians fight against Steppenwolf/Darkseid's army.

Anyways it sounds like we will be getting more history about the Amazonians come November.

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.

Justice League hits theatres November 17, 2017.
