'Wonder Woman' Breaks Records With First Weekend Opening At The Box Office

Gaining critic acclaim and being a treat for all fans, Wonder Woman already became a hit for all. And now it is breaking records at the box office.

The Patty Jenkins-directed Warner Bros. and DC Comics film, has broken predictions concerning its opening weekend at the US Box Office. Showing in 4,165 cinemas across the country, it is estimated to have made $100.5 million.

With this, Jenkins has set a new record for the domestic opening weekend numbers a female-directed film has made beating out Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey ($85.1 million).

For comparison, Wonder Woman beat the opening weekend figures for Iron Man ($98.6 million), Doctor Strange ($85 million), and Thor ($65.7 million).

Amongst other films in the DC Extended Universe, it has received the lowest out of films like Man of Steel ($116.6 million), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($166 million), and Suicide Squad ($134 million).

Internationally, the film for its first week out has made an estimated $122.5 million. Therefore, globally, the film has made a total over $223 million with an $150 million dollar budget (before marketing) so it is set to make the studio a good return.
