Lucasfilm In The Process Of Making An Obi-Wan Kenobi 'Star Wars' Film

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Lucasfilm are in the process of making a Star Wars film revolving around the much-loved character of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Stephen Daldry, whose credits include Billy Elliot and The Hours, is in early talks to direct the film. Daldry will, if he gets the job, oversee writing the film too with Lucasfilm creatives .

The film is in its early phases and has no script yet, also it is unknown if Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as the pivotal Jedi in the Star Wars canon.

This standalone film is one out of the many Lucasfilm are producing to further expand the cinematic side of the Star Wars lore. A Han Solo project is currently filming, while the Obi-Wan and other films, revolving around such characters like Yoda and Boba Fett, are being looked at as possible chapters in the ever-expanding Star Wars cinematic universe.
